About Blackwater Distilling
Blackwater Distilling, Inc., is the maker of Sloop Betty vodka, a hand-crafted,
wheat-based vodka. Launched at the end of 2010, Sloop Betty is the flagship product
of Blackwater Distilling.
History
On Feb. 15, 2008, the Eastern Shore-based Blackwater Distilling became Maryland's first
licensed beverage alcohol distillery in nearly 30 years. Founded by brothers Christopher
and Jonathan Cook, the micro-distillery will produce its inaugural vodka line, available
in the fall of 2010. More super-premium products, including a gin and whiskey, are planned
for future release. Blackwater Distilling will initially distribute its liquors throughout
Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, DC, with increasing coverage as production capacity
expands.
Maryland Connection
With their partner Mark Troxler, the Cook brothers have worked to build connections
between the brand and the state's once-celebrated roots in distilling, working to
attract a large local and regional following.
Blackwater Distilling will introduce its inaugural product, super premium vodka, in
the Maryland area and grow its appeal regionally then nationally. To Blackwater
Distilling, quality is king and its super-premium Vodka will compete in taste appeal
with the finest vodkas sold in America.
